Swazi MTN y'ello care career day 2018

On 21 June 2018 Swazi MTN hosted its first ever Global Y'ello Career Day for the youth in the country. The event was aimed at motivating and empowering students and out of school youth to make informed career choices. The Career Day also sought to expose the youth to the various educational programs, job and entrepreneurial opportunities availed by Swazi MTN and other organizations in the country. as part of the 21 Days of Yello Care at the premises of the Head Office at Ezulwini. Eswatini Communications Commission was invited to take part in the day’s event and programme. General Manager, Legal and Compliance Mr Ozzie Thakatha made a presentation on the operations of the Commission.

The Ambassador of the United States of America Ms. Lisa Peterson, MTN Swaziland Senior Officers, Royal Science and Technology Park CEO’s Representative were all in attendance. There were about 10 companies that had put up stalls for exhibitions as part of the day’s event. SCCOM was joined by Swaziland Electricity Company, Royal Science and Technology Park, Young Heroes, Huawei Technologies, MTN Swaziland, Family Life Association of Swaziland, Macmilan Swaziland etc. Students were introduced to different career opportunities in different industries. Mr. Phumelela Paras Motsa an MTN Business Ambassador and Entrepreneur took the students through a mentoring session.

Young people were informed of the numerous job and business opportunities availed by Swazi MTN and these comprised:

  1. Job shadowing
  2. Graduate Trainee program
  3. Internships
  4. Entrepreneurial opportunities

Swazi MTN expressed their determination to shape the future of the Swazi youth through the above-mentioned programs. Young people were encouraged to exercise patience when facing academic or social challenges, for them to make it in the world of work.
